Our Campaigner of the week this time is not an individual but a kickass Organisation, Bhumi.org. Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent and youth volunteer non-profit organisations. The organisation provides socially-conscious students and young professionals a platform to serve society and to bridge the gap between the learned and the unlearned through education. Their volunteers educate and mentor children from orphanages, slum and village community centres in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Rajasthan etc to give them a better future, which will benefit them as well as our country.
We spoke to the team and here is a compiled interview that we have transcribed below.
Tell us a little bit more about Bhumi and what the T-shirt was about?
Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisations. Bhumi as a platform will enable over 5,000 volunteers in more than 12 cities across India for causes like education, environment, animals, community welfare etc. In 2015, Bhumi was the recipient of the ‘Leader in Volunteer Engagement Award’ conferred by iVolunteer. Bhumi volunteers primarily work amongst over 18,000 underprivileged children with the aim of providing children with quality supplementary education to enable them become responsible and productive citizens of the future. Since Bhumi’s core work revolves around volunteering, we had put together a wide repository of T-shirts that conveyed the spirit of volunteering.
When is the first time you heard about My Dream Store?
When Karthik emailed us almost a year back; and we would not have listed but for his relentless follow-up.
What was launching your first campaign like?
We had launched our first t-shirt campaign a few months back. In fact, from then to now, we have launched 14 campaigns. For each campaign, it takes us about 2-3 days to design and launch. However, the actual process on the website, thanks to the supporting help articles is quite simple.
Have you sold t-shirts or other merchandise before? Was the My Dream Store experience any different?
Our old system regarding t-shirts was to print in bulk and sell over many months. However at Bhumi, we now feel that the new way of printing only the required quantity definitely makes for a better experience.
What’s been the hardest part about selling with My Dream Store? What could we do to make your life easier?
We find it difficult to convince all our potential consumers to pay online. For us, it would be easier to sell if there is an option for people to pay for Cash on Delivery – And we are very pleased to hear that you have now brought in COD payment too. We are sure that for our next t-shirt campaign, we will be able to sell more t-shirts than before.
Moreover, we would also really appreciate if you guys offered Dri-Fit T-Shirts to be designed. We would like to launch a campaign with Dri-Fit Tees.
How did you promote your t-shirt? Any advice for others?
We emailed and promoted the t-shirt on our substantial Social media network and people responded by buying a lot of t-shirts! We also promoted the campaign through our internal Whatsapp groups and it worked! What I would like to tell all those who are reading this is to give this platform a shot and at least try it once.
What’s been the best part of your success on My Dream Store?
We are overjoyed to announce that the money we raised through mydreamstore.in will help us educate 100 children at Bhumi. It can’t be better than this. Thank you!
We thank you Bhumi, for the faith you showed in us. We are equally delighted to help you help children of India. We hope in the future, you will launch more campaigns and raise more funds. Remember, we loved having you here! Moreover, Bhumi participated in our April, ’15 contest called the ‘Clash of Titans.’ Their campaigns were successful and they won big money as they were one of the winners!
Remember, if your first campaign doesn’t work out the way you hoped, DO NOT give up. Reach out to us and learn how to promote more. Try and try till you succeed. Someday, you will be a top performer and we will be hailing you as the Campaigner of the Week.
See you guys again next week. Till then, keep campaigning!
